Sophia Diaz, M.A., is a bilingual Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist who works for the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Birth-3 program.  She provides Orientation & Mobility services to the Southern part of New Mexico.  She is also an Instructional Lead that provides support, coaching and mentoring to staff.  She believes that a child’s family is crucial when promoting orientation and mobility skills and that every child who is blind and visually impaired can become a confident, competent, and independent walker.
