Abstract
B60MSI: A New and Available O&M Evaluation Tool for Birth-6
We will demonstrate how children Birth-3 in New Mexico are evaluated for Orientation and Mobility services using the Birth-6 Orientation & Mobility Inventory Skills tool. This NEW tool was created by the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Birth to 3 program and was selected by Western Michigan University for advanced research. It is now the only Birth to 6 Orientation & Mobility Skills Inventory evaluation tool that is valid and reliable for children Birth-6 years of age who are blind or visually impaired. We will share this new tool and we will demonstrate how we are using it to evaluate and assess Orientation and Mobility skills in the Birth-3 population in New Mexico. We will share case studies and videos and we will discuss how it can be used for writing Orientation & Mobility Evaluation reports.
