New data show 71% of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have ocular conditions. Another study shows all children in one school for ASD in India with cognitive vision impairment. Use of eye gaze technology may help in our understanding of how the child "sees" to determine appropriate interventions. As we better understand the complexities of vision and the brain, it becomes more difficult to "label" conditions as simply neurological or ocular or behavioral, they often coexist.
A second topic of seizure disorders will also be addressed. Children with seizure disorders from medication, the basic neuropathology, and now surgeries may have a variety of new types of visual impairments.
